Looking for options of calling external application from a quote line to calculate pricing.

      • Take a quote and on the line have a button for “Pricing” when clicked it would open a custom web application to handle all the complex pricing we require.
      • Once complete user would save the pricing in the custom application and the final price and length would be sent back to the quote line.

I’m just looking for feedback if people have done this before in D365 F&O and how the user experience is?

      Thanks!

      Jason,

I’m going to take an answer from the great Martin Drab on this subject:

D365FO doesn’t come with it’s own way for handling these things; simply take a .NET API of your choice and use it as in any other .NET application. It also means that you’ll find a plenty of information on internet – tutorials, code samples and so on.

Just wrap the logic in a .NET class library, add a reference to your X++ project and call classes in the library when needed.

Since you can now interface between X++ and C#/.NET this would be the easiest solution I could see.

You could also create an external web service that D365FO could consume if the first option is not possible:

adding a powerapp to do the calculation would be easy. But wouldn’t support too much complex logic.
