      Good Morning All,

I have a question regarding a data export project I have. I have been asked to add two fields (PO and Vendor ID) to the Project Actuals Entity. I can see in the data management module how to access the mapping details for the entity; but when I create a new line, I can select the staging field I want but it has nowhere to map to. My questions are:
      1. Can I just add a column to my table in the BYOD and have ERP recognized I did so so that I can then map to it (probably not)?
      2. Is this doable with the BYOD option or is this something that is geared towards an entity store in a data lake?

      Thanks in advance.

      HI Stuart,

Adding to entities (or creating new ones) for BYOD or other purposes typically requires working in Visual Studio – something like these steps: https://d365byjp.blogspot.com/2019/12/extending-standard-data-entity-to-add_2.html

Thanks Ben! That makes sense. I’m still new to D365 and trying to piece this together in my head. I wish I could just go into SSMS and create the field since visual studio is doing the same thing. Is there code that needs to be deployed?

For something as simple as just adding fields, or even exposing an entire table, there really isn’t any coding, but you have to understand what model to put the new objects in and also understand Azure DevOps or whatever your site uses for code management.Ā  The steps are pretty similar to the link I sent above, though there will always be variations depending on what you are trying to accomplish.Ā  There are many more walkthroughs and blogs like this that address different aspects or variations of the process.Ā  Microsoft has some good documentation as well – for example here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/fin-ops-core/dev-itpro/data-entities/build-consuming-data-entities
