      Hi,

Navision warehouse doesn’t allow picking of items from a pickable bin when there are items in the receive bin.Ā  We can’t pick items from pickable bin until the items in the receive bin are put-away.Ā  We want to pick items from pickable bins even though there are items in the receive bin.Ā Has anyone found a solution around this?

      Thanks,

Do you have Require Put-away on the Location and is it possible in some cases you’ve notĀ actually Put-away some Inventory? I ask because we had a problem like this in our environment. We required Warehouse Receipts and Put-aways but for one Location (it turned out) the Warehouse users would sometimes move items from the Receive Bin by Item Reclass Journal instead of doing a proper Put-away. Unfortunately it seems NAV (2013 R2) deducts the quantity not properly Put-away from the available Inventory. We had to go back through all Posted Warehouse Receipts and for any lines with Inventory received but notĀ actually Put-away we had to move itĀ back to the Receive Bin then Create and properly Register new Put-aways to correct it. It took quite some time to go through them all because sometimes the Qty required to be Put Away was far more than the then available inventory.

We found the exact same scenario in 2016. We had to go back through receipts and do put aways. We don’t allow our warehouse guys to use the reclass journal, but we have a handheld solution that they would move it with. We added a restriction that move operation is restricted from the RECV bin.

Thanks to all responded to my original request.Ā  We are using Nav 2015.Ā  I’ve found more details to share through more testing using Nav 2018.Ā  The scenarios below were tested in Nav 2018.

      Scenario 1:

      * 2Ā  ABC items in Pick bin
      * 10 ABC items in Receive bin
      * Sales order #1 for ABC item with quantity of 5 and 5 reserved against Item Ledger Entry
      * Create pick on sales order #1, Navision create a pick with 2 ABC items.

This scenario is what we want happen.Ā  However, scenario 2 shows “nothing to handle” with an additional sales order.

      Scenario 2:

      * 2Ā  ABC items in Pick bin
      * 10 ABC items in Receive bin
      * Sales order #1 (from scenario 1)Ā for ABC item with quantity of 5 and 5 reserved against item ledger entry
      * Added a new sales order #2Ā for ABC item with quantity of 5 and 5 reserved against Item ledger entry
      * Create pick on sales order #1 and getting “Nothing to Handle” message.

Because of this, the warehouse receiving has put-away item quickly to avoid stepping into the picking process. What we like to see is that items in receive bin should not have interfered with the pick bin.Ā  In scenario 2 above, we should still be able to pick the 2 ABC item in pick bin.

?I have two things you can check.Ā  (1) Are you using lot control or serial numbers and if so, does the lot/serial no. on the pick match what’s in the pick bin?Ā  (2) Check bin contents and look at Qty Available (not Qty on hand).Ā  Is there enough available.Ā  Open quantities on other picks, adjustments, etc. can cause your qty available to be less than the qty on hand.
