      Hello All,

We have 2 existing companies in our NAV 2013R2 database with historical data going back about 3 years. I was just informed that we plan to merge the 2 entities into 1 company for financial purposes.

Has anybody had the need to combine companies into 1 entity before, and if so how difficult was the data migration?Ā

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

      Best,

      Aaron,
I have done a merge about a year ago.
This can be quite complex, depending on the modules you are using. There are several scenario’s possible.Ā
If it is just (or only?) for financial purposes; is creating a consolidation company an option?

      Hi Aaron,

I would second the recommendations to review the merits of a NAV consolidation vs. a NAV merge. Ā Understanding the drivers behind the project will help you determine if there is value in doing a full merge. Ā If you consider consolidations, there is the opportunity in NAV to have consolidated financial statements accessible to users & leaders which may accomplish the same goal. Ā This is easy functionality for users to run (access via Departments/Financial Management/General Ledger/Reports/Consolidation).

      Aaron,

I agree with the two previous suggestions, especially if the two companies remain separate legal entities. There is a lot of great functionality in NAV for Consolidations.

Thank you all for your feedback!

It sounds like going with a consolidated company is going to be much more straight forward and require less work since we won’t have to migrate data. I am hoping the requirements will allow us to move forward with this option instead of merging data.
