As a backup to read old comments and other info for customers we did not bring into new NAV, we set up a local copy of 2009 Classic on a couple of PCs. I am able to access the data without error. However, other users going to any Comment get the error “You do not have permission to read the Session table.” or “Field number 19 is not defined in the Session table.” even when I provide them Super rights.

Any idea what’s happening here and how to resolve?

      Hello Noreen,

I’m a little confused from your description above what is going on.  It sounds like you have the following:
      – You created a local copy of your production system on a stand alone computer.
      – You were able to access everything on that local copy.
      – Users in the production system are getting the errors above.

      Is that correct?

There could be a couple of different things going on.  First, I would delete the .zup file on the users local computer.  That can get corrupted on a V2009 system and cause very strange error messages.  If that is not the case, you may want to look at SQL rights.  Do all of the users have the same rights?  If not, then a poorly designed modification can cause inconsistent errors across users.

Any other data you have on what is going on could help in finding a solution.

      Sincerely,
      Victor Diercksen

      Hello, Victor.

Thank you for your help on this.

The local copy is not a SQL install. I made an fdb backup using Classic Client, then created a new database on a local PC. We’ve done this in the past for disaster recovery before we installed our generator as the UPSs didn’t power enough equipment. The local users are set up with Database Login.

I did try both deleting the ZUP in roaming profile and replacing it with my own. Unfortunately, the end user still gets the error, “Field number 19 is not defined in the Session table.”

I’m going to try completely uninstalling and reinstalling 2009 NAV on the local PC. Please let me know if you think of anything else I might try.

      Hello Noreen,

Have you opened the ‘Session’ table in the Object Designer and see if field 19 exists?

Did you say that this only comes up if a user goes to the Comments?  Where are they accessing the comments from?

      Victor

Sessions should be table 2000000009. However, I can’t find it in Object Designer. I’ve looked in Table, All, and tried a *Session* search/filter.

      System Tables

Access to comments is from a master record such as Customer or from a document such as Posted Sales Invoice.

The Session table is a virtual table and cannot be accessed from Object Designer, although you can create a report to read it.

Thanks Lewis, I had forgotten that.

Noreen, when did this error appear?  Has anything changed recently?

      Hi, Victor.

Most recent changes are our upgrade to 2018. However, that shouldn’t affect our local copy of 2009 that I am aware since it was an fdb backup. That said, I was the only one accessing and never needed to look at comments.  If I can’t find an answer shortly, I’ll change my password and hand it out. This is a local copy so I’m not worried about security. Thanks for helping!

      Hey Noreen,

Field 19 is Host Name in Session Table.
** How to Check that –
      1. Add ID in Form 6218 and Run form with Filter – Tableno = 2000000009.

      Information –
Field 19 only exists in SQL Database not for the native update as shown below. In the Native database, Host Name is Field 32.

I will recommend to restore the backup in a SQL Server database and let user access it.

Thank you for your input. This is no longer worth troubleshooting as it’s only to access our old version for data we did not bring into current NAV and we do not want to keep it in SQL any longer.
