We would like to hide our chart of accounts from the majority of our users.Ā  Is there an easy way to do this via removing the page view, etc, or removing the security from seeing it.Ā  We are currently on NAV 2018.Ā  I have tried a couple of different things but nothing seems to be working.

      ,
There are a couple of things you can try:
      1) You can remove Users’ access to Table 15 (COA) – make sure that this Permission does not appear in any set they have. Also be mindful that these Users may need to post to G/L Accounts. This means that when you modify the Table Permission in question, you still want the new Read Type to be “Indirect” rather than blank. It is wise not to modify the existing Permission Sets, but to create your own and to assign it.

      2) You can also remove the COA from the Navigation Pane, the Ribbon and all other places (if any) and then to remove the Departments from these Users’ Profile. IMPORTANTLY, once you have removed the Departments, you cannot add it back to that Profile. Therefore, it is wise to copy and modify your own Profile rather than edit one of the existing ones. The result of removing Departments from a Profile is that Users will be unable to search for the COA in the NAV Search Box unless the COA Button appears still somewhere (i.e. if you still missed it in the Navigation Pane or elsewhere).

      Hi Laura,

You can hide it from the Menu for that particular user in the configuration mode and remove it from permissions for that user’s user group or individual permission set.

You would normally do this by creating a more restrictive basic permission set that does not include access to the Chart of account pages and reports.Ā  Standard Business Central has a page and report permission that gives access to every page and report in BC.Ā  You would create a copy of the base permission set and remove this permission to all pages and reports and add the specific pages you want the users to have access to.Ā

I attached a word document with some instruction on how this can be done.
