We have two clients that produce products and then deliver the items in their own trucks.Ā  Both of them would like to give their drivers the ability to finish-up the invoice upon delivery.Ā  Basically the driver stops by the store, makes the delivery and then they would like to generate the invoice at that point (think about a small printer they carry similar to car rental companies utilize).Ā  Or the invoice could be sent via email. In some cases, there is a difference between what was ordered versus what got delivered and they would need to make a change on the invoice.

The preference would be for the device in the truck to be connected directly to the NAV system, but they would be fine with invoices being downloaded to a device and then uploaded upon return.

Is anyone using a system as outlined above?
Or do they know of systems out there which support this type of activity?

We are an end user running Hand Apps mobile client on a rugged windows device. Our salespeople generate sales orders, credit memos, and invoices. The device can sync is real time over a wireless carrier or in a batch when a signal becomes available. Deploys on Android, Apple, Windows, and a Web Portal. Highly configurable and a positive user experience.

This is a totally big domain here, are the trucks drivers handling cash / payments , do you control truck vans, do you capture signature / info on site, do you replace packing packages, do they handle returns? you are looking into Van sales / Route accounting. there is more than one approach to consider here :
1- Do you want to have a separate system then integrate with NAV Ā  I have tried one company World Leader In Route Accounting Software. – AdvantageRS
2- Do you want a NAV vertical you can try checking out Anveo Mobile App, Web Portal and EDI for Microsoft Dynamics NAV

If this is a minor branch of your client business and they are not looking to heavily invest, you can deliver NAV to light weight portable clients through TS or Citrix

Wow, does no one believe in using the power of NAV all by itself?Ā  If you are on a new version of NAV (2015+), you can use NAV on a tablet.Ā  This would allow you to modify the order, invoice it, and send the invoice via email.Ā  No additional cost, except the time to setup the port to connect via the internet.

NAV’s web client is a great tool, and it is where Microsoft is spending the majority of their R&D budget.Ā  Use the software you already own.

Yes, there is no offline capability, but most carriers cover all populated areas in the US.Ā  You can get a rugged tablet with cellular service and accomplish a LOT.
