We recently have been asked by one of our customers to add an 856 ASN element to provide the transit time of an order.Ā  We are using Lanham EDI on NAV 2009 R2.

      • Is there a calculated field that calculates this based on Expected Delivery date and shipment date?
      • Is there something that exposes the shipping time from the customer card?
      • Is there some other option that anyone has used?

We maintain the expected delivery date in our system, so it would be accurate to calculate against, but I’m guessing we would have to customize to achieve this.

Just wondering if there is something straight forward to achieve this, or if it would require a customization.

      Thank you
      #EDIĀ ?#NAV2009RTC??

      ?Hi Stuart,

As you may be aware, expected shipment timeĀ should not be a “static” value that is picked up from a “card” in NAV. The expected delivery dateĀ is a “variable” and should be calculated based on mode of transportation,Ā (Inter-Modal, LTL, TL), ship-to-locationĀ and carrier selected at the very minimum. As we know, other factors can influence delivery dates as well. Modern transportation management solutions for NAV are capable of taking into consideration the many variables and generating a fairly accurate expected arrive date and time. More and more “customers” will be demanding more granular calculations as this topic has recently gained a lot of momentum.

      Hope this helps a bit!

If the desired field is not in the available field list for EDI 856, then you can custom write the “EDI OUT” fields.

However, you will need your partner’s help to utilize the EDI Out fields as that makes changes to a code unit and requires export and import of the code unit as a text object; thr customer license doesn’t allow for that.Ā

Thank you all for the response.Ā  I was just looking to make sure I wasn’t overlooking something before going down the custom or add-on route.
