Has anyone had any luck with moving an employee from one database to another?  We need to move all history so that we can delete them from the original database.  We want to move all senior level management employees to a separate company so we can limit who sees their pay info.

      Thanks,
      Jeremiah

Have you thought about restoring your current company into a new one?  This also has the advantage of bringing over all your setups.  Then delete/inacvtive what you need to out of each company.  Would this work for you?

This might be overkill Jeremiah.  Willoware makes an inexpensive “toolkit” that includes triggers that allow you to hide specific classes of records in GP from specific groups of users.   It’s very transparent but does not include smartlists so if you need to hide the data in smartlists as well that won’t be your answer.

The Willoware folks usually monitor this board, so hopefully they can comment if their triggers allow you to hide specific classes of employees in the HR module.

What Carol suggested, some do as well, just copy over to a new database, then delete what you do not want.
We do have a customization that will copy over employee by employee if that is what you want.
But it is more for hotels or restaurants where you want to copy the employee over but no YTD data in that company as they will get a W2 out of each company.

Thinking about doing this if you split the databases, you will want to think about reporting, W2’s will be out of each company, same with 941’s, etc.  We do have some consolidated cross company reports, but not everything.

If it is about viewing the data, there are some ISV products out there where it will allow you to see certain employees in a company.  Such as KTL Solutions, there could be more.

We have “filters” in HR, but very “old” technology and we hide the employee maintenance and the pay code window.  But if the user had access to run the SUTA report the management employee would be listed there.

      Thanks
