Hi, We have an asset that is not completely depreciated so can’t retire it yet but want to stop depreciating it.  What are the steps to stop it from depreciating?  The Asset is up for sale and not in use at the time.

We have just manually overrode the YTD depreciation with zero, (or whatever amount you want to depreciate), on the asset card, and adjusted the Life to Date figure, for this adjustment.  Be sure your depreciated to date, is the year-end, so that if you run a depreciation routine, it won’t add it back on.
