Hi – we are looking for a way to add one total lump sum cost of labor to an MO…we currently are working on configuring all of the labor cost functionality but in the mean time, we were hoping for an easy way to apply the total cost that we’ve manually calculated into the MO upon MO Completion.

      Anyone have any ideas?

      Thank you!

      Jeffrey,

You may want to look at the Data Collection window, Manufacturing->Transactions->WIP->Data Collection.  You would need to do some setup but I think this will do what you want.  Enter MO Number, Sequence and select Direct Labor for Data Collection Type.  You’ll need to select an Employee and Labor Code along with Pay Code of Direct.  Enter the Start and End date and time to calculate the total labor hours.

Feel free to contact me if you have questions.

      Hi Jeffrey,

There are numerous ways to add labor cost to MOs in GP Manufacturing.  The “best” way for your needs depends on how you are set up, how you transact MOs, how you want your financials to reflect the labor cost, etc.

You could actually add the labor cost in the final MO Receipt step if you really only want to add labor cost at MO Completion (MO receipt).

“Better” would be to add a labor entry on the routing – how & where depends on how you want cost to happen and flow – but it’s easy and simple to add some labor cost to the routing and set up a generic labor code, flag for backflush, and the addition of labor cost is normal simple and easy to transact.

I’d be happy to coach you through this, give me a call 302-479-5068.

      Fred
